Simple squamous epithelium – too thin to distinguish except for their flattened nuclei. Epithelial cells that line blood vessels, the heart, and lymphatic vessels are also known as endothelial cells. The epithelium is also referred to as an endothelium.
Simple columnar epithelium – the cells are taller than they are wide with their nuclei in the basal region of the cells. Many areas of this section were cut at an angle through the epithelium, this gives it the appearance of and easily confused with pseudostratified columnar epithelium.
