This image shows a lung in the organizing phase of subacute fibrobronchoalveolitis. Grossly, the lung parenchyma is very dense, with considerable fibrosis. Gas exchange will be greatly impaired.
There is intraalveolar fibrin deposition. This is likely a person who has been a smoker.
