The respiratory system is a series of organs responsible for taking in oxygen and expelling carbon dioxide.
Nasal and Oral Cavity

Epiglottis
The epiglottis is a flap that extends from the upper part of the larynx. It aids in closing the air conduction passageway during swallowing.

Larynx
The larynx is a tube-shaped organ in the neck that contains the vocal cords.
Trachea
The trachea is a fibromuscular tube supported by hyaline cartilage that connects the pharynx and the larynx.
Adult Lung
The adult lungs are sponge-like organs and make up most of the lower-respiratory tract. Their most important function is providing oxygen and removing carbon dioxide from red blood cells within capillaries.
Fetal Lung
The fetal lung is not capable of supporting respiration.
