Lamina Propria - dense irregular connective tissue that supports the epithelium. It is rich in fenestrated capillaries and small venules.
Tunica Muscularis - randomly oriented bundles of smooth muscle containing numerous collagen and elastic fibers. Its contraction results in emptying of the gallbladder.
Outer Layer of Connective Tissue - composition depends on its location.
Adventitia - where the gallbladder attaches to the liver. It is composed of dense irregular connective tissue.
Serosa - where the gallbladder is unattached to the liver. It is composed of a surface layer of mesothelium supported by loose irregular connective tissue.
Despite its origin from the foregut, the gallbladder does not have a muscularis mucosa or submucosa.
