The liver is an accessory digestive gland with many functions. The gallbladder stores bile produced by the liver before release into the small intestine.
Liver
The liver has a variety of functions: glucose and lipid metabolism; synthesis of plasma proteins and lipoproteins; detoxification of drugs, metabolites, and xenobiotics; and the production of bile.

Gallbladder
The gallbladder is a small pouch tha stores bile from the liver and concentrates it before release into the small intestine.
